Abstract

The presence of technology in education has changed the educational landscape in the digital era significantly. This research aims to investigate the positive and negative impacts of technology on students' educational development. In this context, technology refers to computer hardware and software, internet access, mobile devices, and various educational applications that have become an integral part of the student learning experience.

This research uses a literature search method to collect and analyze findings from various empirical studies and scientific reviews. The results show that the use of technology in education can expand students' access to information and educational resources. This enables distance learning, self-directed learning, and greater personalization of education. Technology can also increase student motivation by using gamefication elements in learning.

However, along with its benefits, the use of technology in education also poses challenges, such as potential distractions to students' attention, negative impacts on mental well-being, and the risk of addiction. Therefore, the use of technology in education must be integrated wisely, taking into account students' developmental needs and supporting digital literacy skills. This research underscores the importance of a balanced approach to integrating technology in education, with a focus on meaningful learning and the development of students' critical skills. To optimize the positive impact of technology in education, there needs to be collaboration between educators, students and technology developers, while still paying attention to ethical and privacy issues.
