Abstract

This article discusses the challenges and opportunities in Islamic religious education in a multicultural society with a focus on implementable strategies. In a multicultural society, Islamic religious education faces challenges such as differences in values, beliefs, practices, and understandings among religious groups. The aim of this article is to analyze these challenges and explore the potential of Islamic religious education in strengthening interreligious harmony. The method used is a literature review, analyzing various relevant sources and theories. The results of this analysis show that Islamic religious education plays a crucial role in promoting a deeper interreligious understanding and reducing negative stereotypes. The conclusion of this research is that by implementing strategies such as developing inclusive curricula, providing in-depth teacher training, promoting interreligious dialogue, integrating values of tolerance, and involving communities and parents, Islamic religious education can be a valuable tool in building interreligious understanding and creating harmony in a multicultural society. This will help create a more inclusive, tolerant, and harmonious community amidst the increasing complexity of religious diversity
