Abstract

Formative assessment is an important approach in the world of education that allows educators to understand student development more holistically. This research explores the importance of formative assessment as an effective tool in understanding student development at various levels of education. The research methods used involve surveys, literature analysis, and case studies to support arguments.

This study discusses the concept of formative assessment and how to implement it in an educational environment. The research results show that formative assessments can provide deeper insight into student progress, enable better adjustments to instruction, and promote more effective learning. This research also highlights challenges that may arise in implementing formative assessment, such as paradigm shifts in teaching and evaluation.

The importance of formative assessment in understanding student development can have a positive impact on efforts to improve the quality of education. Thus, educators, teachers and educational stakeholders need to understand, implement and support the use of formative assessment as a key instrument to optimize the learning process and student development. This study stimulates critical thinking about assessment practices in education, and is expected to make an important contribution to improving the quality of education in the future.
