Abstract

This research aims to examine the opportunities, strategies, and challenges in integrating Islamic Religious Education within the context of the Merdeka Curriculum in Elementary Schools. Employing a library research approach, this study explores relevant literature to identify models for developing Islamic Religious Education learning materials that are both pertinent and effective. Recommendations for curriculum and learning material development involve theme-based integration, integrated teacher training, and the creation of interactive modules. Strategies for overcoming integration challenges include fostering strong institutional commitment, effective socialization, and the development of contextually relevant learning materials. Simultaneously, efforts to capitalize on existing opportunities encompass engaging parents, collaborating with religious institutions, and leveraging digital technology. In conclusion, the integration of Islamic Religious Education within the Merdeka Curriculum can be successful through a holistic approach that addresses curriculum aspects, teacher training, and the active participation of all stakeholders. Ongoing monitoring and evaluation are key to ensuring the success and resilience of this integration, as well as to continually improving and enhancing the learning process in response to evolving contextual needs. With the implementation of these recommendations, it is anticipated that Islamic Religious Education can significantly contribute to shaping the character and morality of students in the era of the Merdeka Curriculum
