Abstract

Inclusive education has become a primary agenda in providing equality and learning opportunities for all students, regardless of differences. This research focuses on the role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in creating an inclusive learning environment in Elementary Schools. Adopting the library research method, this study investigates recent scholarly literature to identify the roles, challenges, and efforts that PAI teachers can undertake in the context of inclusion. Challenges faced by PAI teachers involve differences in students' backgrounds and needs, a lack of understanding of the inclusion concept, and resource limitations. However, efforts to overcome these challenges involve various strategies that can be implemented by PAI teachers. Training and professional development, collaboration among teachers, curriculum adaptation, and student empowerment are key elements in creating an inclusive environment. The research findings indicate that PAI teachers play a strategic role in shaping the character and morality of students, ensuring accessibility to Islamic education for all students, and creating an inclusive school culture. By involving parents, the community, and school support, PAI teachers can become significant agents of change in realizing inclusive education in Elementary Schools. This research contributes significantly to understanding the dynamics of the PAI teacher's role in the context of inclusion, with the hope of serving as a foundation for the development of policies, practices, and further research in the field of inclusive education in Indonesia.
