Abstract

This article discusses the important role of the teacher in developing a multicultural Islamic religious education. In the multicultural context of Islamic religious education, teachers have a responsibility to build understanding and respect for cultural and religious diversity among students. The explanation presented in this article covers four main points. First, teachers need to help students understand and appreciate diversity by selecting teaching materials that reflect different cultures and religions fairly. Second, teachers must facilitate intercultural dialogue in the classroom, creating a safe and inclusive environment for students to share experiences and build a broader understanding of cultural and religious differences. Third, teachers need to integrate local culture in learning Islamic religion, linking religious values ​​to students' daily lives, and cultivating respect for the cultural diversity around them. Finally, teachers must use a variety of learning methods, enabling students to be actively involved and gain a deep understanding of the Islamic religion as well as the perspectives of others. Overall, the effective role of the teacher in developing a multicultural Islamic religious education can create an inclusive learning environment, help students gain a broader understanding of the Islamic religion, and develop an attitude of respect for cultural and religious differences.
