Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the relevance of Islamic Religious Education material to the needs of students in a multicultural context. In an increasingly heterogeneous context, it is important to develop materials that can accommodate the diversity of cultures, religions and traditions of students. Through literature analysis, it was found that the relevance of Islamic Religious Education material plays an important role in encouraging students' religious awareness and environmental conservation in a multicultural context. The results of the study show that Islamic Religious Education material that is relevant to the multicultural context must include recognition and respect for diversity, meeting the needs of students, building tolerance and respect, and integrating the multicultural context in teaching. Despite challenges such as student diversity and religious sensitivity controversies, opportunities such as collaborative learning, use of technology, community engagement, and improving teacher competency can be leveraged in developing more relevant materials. In conclusion, the development of Islamic Religious Education materials that are relevant to the needs of students in a multicultural context requires an inclusive approach, respect for diversity, and a deep understanding of the Islamic religion. By considering the challenges and taking advantage of the opportunities that exist, material can be created that is relevant and supports the development of students in developing religious awareness and environmental conservation in a multicultural society
