Abstract

Abstract: Education is a pattern that aims to create a generation of people who have noble character and have high intellect. Islamic Religious Education for Elementary School students is one of the foundations that form the basis for forming good character in students in order to achieve the desired goal, namely, character education which is the need of the nation. The role of the teacher becomes the dominant factor in the formation of this character. This research aims to examine the role of a teacher in an effort to optimize Islamic Religious Education as a teaching subject to form noble character (good character) in elementary school students. This study used a qualitative method with the type of library research or library research. Researchers analyzed written literature as the main source in the form of books and research journals. Based on the literature review, that character education through Islamic Religious Education is rooted in religious values, Pancasila, culture and national education goals. Implementation of morals (character) in Islamic Religious Education through the teacher's role in teaching, exemplary, habituation, coercion and punishment to build student character.
